Policymakers and economists look each month to the unemployment rate to get a sense of the health of the U.S. economy. But as part of its Current Employment Situation survey, better known as the jobs report, the Bureau of Labor Statistics also publishes information on the sectors responsible for job losses and gains.

The jobs report data is based on a survey of 122,000 business and government agencies at about 666,000 worksites in the U.S. and is broken down by various segments of the population and workforce, including by industry.

The data for industry is seasonally adjusted and shows the change in jobs from the previous month. Smaller industries may show more volatile wings in employment from month-to-month.

Use our interactive to search every industry that the BLS reports monthly and sort by various metrics. The data is updated as soon as it becomes available.

Check out other interactive tables from MarketWatch that break down economic data, including two inflation metrics by product — the consumer price index and personal consumption expenditures.
